In an inspiring display of determination and compassion, Jasmine Hunt, Graduate Procurement Officer at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust, who is currently studying the L4 Commercial Procurement and Supply Apprenticeship at SRSCC, took to the streets of Glasgow on the 4th of February, completing her first ever half marathon. The race was not just a test of Jasmine’s determination but a powerful sign of support for children in war-torn areas. Glasgow, a city close to her heart, served as the perfect backdrop for the event.
Despite this being Jasmines first race, she crossed the finish line with an impressive time of 2 hours and 31 minutes. However, the true triumph of the day was her incredible achievement of raising over £800 (donations still ongoing), for Save the Children. This act of kindness was motivated by her desire to make a positive impact amidst the heart-wrenching situations in Palestine and Ukraine. Feeling helpless against these conflicts, she found a way to contribute and support those most vulnerable – the children whose lives have been destroyed by war.
Jasmine’s decision to run for charity shows how we can use personal challenges as a means to help others. It’s a reminder that every step we take, no matter how small it may seem, can lead to significant positive changes in the world. The dedication to train for and complete a half marathon, especially for a first-timer, requires not only physical strength but a strong will and a big heart.
As she sets her sights on future races, her journey serves as a reminder of the huge impact we can have through our passions and perseverance. Let her story inspire you to take on your challenges, whether they be on the race track or in your community, knowing that every action can lead to meaningful change.
