Over the last few years, there has been an increase in the number of school leavers questioning the wisdom of heading to university – and racking up an enormous debt to do so. Fuelling the concern is the belief – often well-founded – that the academic system does little to prepare graduates for the world of work, although a degree has long been seen as the route to professional qualifications and a rewarding career.
Thankfully, there’s now a real alternative. At SRSCC, we offer a Commercial Procurement and Supply Level 4 Apprenticeship. This two-year programme allows people to earn and learn. Apprentices fit study around work, a project report, presentation and questioning Interview. Their classroom learning is immediately applicable to their real-life situation and more meaningful as a result. At the end of the apprenticeship, learnersan progress onto the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply membership or transition onto L6 Apprenticeship Standard which is currently under the development pathway. It is, simply, a great way to access opportunities for progression, responsibility and strategic roles in either the public, private or third sectors.
We’re a registered Apprenticeship Training Provider and have a track record of delivering great results. Our expertise in negotiation, business, pricing, supplier management, contracts, international trade, budgeting and a host of other relevant skills benefit all our learners but there’s something special about the apprentices. As their skills develop, so does their confidence and belief. We see aspirations growing and that’s great because this qualification provides a springboard for anyone wanting to reach the highest levels.
Right now, we’re prepping for the next intake of learners with the study programme commencing in March. Between now and the new year – and what better time for a fresh start? – we’ll be helping employers and potential students discover more about this exciting programme.
A Commercial Procurement and Supply Level 4 Apprenticeship delivers for both the apprentice and the employer. It’s serious stuff that can be great fun to learn, and although it can be challenging, it expands horizons and opens all sorts of doors.
